   WHAT WAS BOURGEOISIE?

Burgeoisie was the name given in the middle ages for naming the social class that was mainly composed of merchants, artisants. Nowadays, the word boirgeoisie is used for refering to the social group composed of people who have a normal salary and have an accomodated life.

                                                  

HOW SOCIETY WAS LIKE?

Bourgeoisie was divided into three social groups:
          *HIGH  BOURGEOISIE: They were on the top of the society. They usually were people who              have important jobs or bankers, and it was an aristocratical social group.

          *MIDDLE  BOURGEOISIE: This social group was also know as the "middle classes". This                   social clas ws composed by lawyers, merchants, wealthy farmers, etc...

          *PETTY  BOURGEOISIE: this social group consisted in small merchants,artisants...
     

                                                       HOW DID THEY LIVE?

        The bourgeoisie people had one house per family. The houses,both, inside and outside,        showed the social class of the family

          *The clothes showed what type of person you were and the money you had. Clothes were made to hide your body, dresses and hats for women were very long, and the coats for men too. Women didn´t buy clothes very often. They bought a dress every two or thre years

           

          * In the bourgeosie families, going on trips was very common, going to the countryside was very popular in these times. But then, people started to go to the beach and to the mountains trips. They also played some sports such as golf or tennis. 

          *The food was not very elaborate because food in medieval times didn´t have a lot of food. They usually ate salads, potatoes,chickens,tomatoes...

          *They didn´t have any transport, so people were everywhere walking or by horse. Somo privilged families that were more wealthy had a carriage.

         *If some families were very rich, they had a serve who cooked, washed clothes, cleaned the house and took care of the children.

SUMMARIES:

                                                        PRIDE & PREJUDICE

This film is about a bourgeoisie family that has five daughters and theis parents try to marry all of them with other men to have some money. One of the sisters (called Jane) get in love with a high class men. But him friend called Darcy convinces him not to marry with her. Darcy is in love with Elizabet Bennet (Jane´s sister), but her isn´t in love of him yet. Finally, Jane get married with Charles Bingley, who is a rich man who is in love with her. Then, Elizabet got married with Darcy, who is friend of Charles, and Lydia Bennet got married with George Wickham, who is Darcy´s enemy. This film is about the bourgeoisie because the Bennet family represents how the typical families of bourgeosie were. For examples their clothes, or were they lived, in large houses, and the most important reason is the way they live. They have serves and expensive objects                                                                                                                                                      
                                                
                                                 THE MERCHANT OF VENICE

Tis film it´s about a bourgeois called Bassanio that is in love with a princess of Vel Monte called Portia, many people want to marry her but when his father died he made a challenge for the peolple who wanted to marry Portia: He displayed 3 chests in one of them had the portrait of Portia the man who opened the chest that contained the portrait could marry portia. Bassiano did not have much money so it asked his friend antonio a rich bourgeois (merchant) which says no money yet. Antonio borrows money from Shylock enemy who says that if you have not returned the money in three months you could cut the one pound of body Antonio. Antonio accepted. Bassiano goes to Vel Monte to accept the challenge with his friend Graciano. Bassiano opens the correct chest and he marries with Portia and Graciano marries with the Bridesmaid of Portia. When they marry Bassiano recieves a letter from his friend Antonio It says :

Dear Bassiano 

          All my ships have been wrecked, I have no money to pay Shylock so he will cut a pound of my body. If you don´t come to Venice to see me by choice don´t make that this letter changes your opinion.

Bassiano goes to see his friend  and makes Shylock to change his idea and he doesn´t cut a pound of Antonios´s body.

Finally Antonio goes to meet Bassiano´s wife.

HOW DID THEY LIVE?

First of all I have to say that this movie happens in the year 1516 but It´s almost the Middle ages.

In this film there are 2 types of Bourgesie:

* HIGH BOURGEOISIE: Shylock

 *MIDDLE BOURGEOISIE: for example Antonio, Bassiano, Graciano...

ROB ROY

A scotish man from the 18th century, was a man who, for the love of a woman and in the name of honor , did all that was in their hands to save and protect his family from the injustices of  a goverment.

Unjustly, convicted to become a person that flees , he has to fight fot this truth and that of his people , but they were not going to live in peace because the law was against them. the doubted of his honor and abuse his family. He was brave so he become a legendary hero.

Robert is the leader of the MacGregor family in Scotland. The life wasn't going very well for them , so they took a leading from the Marquis of Montrose. Two "friends" of the Marquis steal the money to Robbert. The two friends were people that the marquishave send. With all his forceshe defend that he wan't a robber because people think that he took the money for himself. His family support him until the end and finally Robert demonstrated that he wasn't a robber.

LADY HALCON

This film is about a man,whose wife and he,received a maldition from the cardenal,who was the most powerful person in the kingdom,the wife transforms into an halcon at night and the man into a wolf at night.
Philip,one younger man of lower class,try to scape from the prission,and so Navar,the man who received the maldition,help him.
In this film also appears a battle,between the knights of the kingdom and Navar,who can't get close to the kingdom;and we can also appreciate the great social differences between,peasants,bourgeoisie and the most powerful and richer people

                                                 

      DOCUMENTARY    

In this documentary they talk about different themes of the bourgeoisie times such as marine trade. Another theme was feudal system, Feudal system was based on the exploitation and domain of big etensions of land. Te feudal weakness made the rich merchants and  owners of banks had the political power. One of the tasks that the european cities had was to defend the rights of the bourgeoisie.
